Ireland drew 0-0 yesterday evening with Switzerland in Landsdowne Road. They might as well have lost 7-0, as the lack of a win for them means they once will again miss out on going to a major tournament (this time the World Cup in Germany next year). It was a very lacklustreperformance from a fairly disappointing team. The best performer out there was, again, Shay Given - the goalkeeper. Seriously, if we had knighthoods in this country, he’d be well in line for one this year.

My only silver lining on that big grey cloud is that I won a prize in the Carlsberg Football Moments promotional competition - the other day the postman happily handed me a huge padded envelope, in which I found the new Ireland shirt, a Carlsberg hold-all bag, a Carlsberg football, and a SILLY HAT. Thank you, Carlsberg, you make me happeh! - Oh, and to complete the mild pun there, theres actually silver sewn into the lining of the Ireland shirt. (See… “SILVER LINING”… AH HA HA HA HA … )

ANYWAY… In other news, my friend Sorcha, who is pregnant - and due at the end of January (- not far off, eh?) - found out recently the sex of the baby she’s having. She’s ecstatically happy, but slightly angry with her new case of gall stones which are giving her doomy pains in her lower regions (of doom). I’ll leave it to you all to guess the sex. Or to have the sex. Or to dream about sex. Or to sex yourselves up. Or whatever you do…

Meanwhile… my girlfriend now carries a photo of THE DOG around in her wallet. Not one of me, OH NO, but one of THE DOG. (… Christ!) … I wouldn’t mind, but I’m obviously a grand lookin’ fellah and - well, the dog’s not exactly particularly attractive… take exhibit A, for example:

I finished off my twelve week stint presenting “The Wall of Sound” on local radio station Dundalk FM100 last Friday and am looking forward to tomorrow, as I’ve the day off and have to do approximately FUCKALL!!! (well, apart from the grocery shopping…) Hurrah! … The show itself went very well and was co-presented by boards.ie’s very own feylya … which was nice.
