“War at Dundalk FM 100!” yells the Dundalk Democrat front page headline.
Now, I’m certainly not totally privy to all the goings on and the disagreements that some volunteers in the station seem to have with management but the word “war” seems a bit strong to me - and the suggestion in the article that working conditions in there are “intolerable” and that the atmosphere there is so bad that people have been forced to resign, - all seems a bit far-fetched to me.
Mind you, I am definitely open to criticism and/or correction. I’m not in there half often enough but when I am, the atmosphere and working conditions seem fine, friendly and more than “tolerable” to me and the management perfectly helpful and friendly. Yet, of course, the argument on the Dundalk blog is still lurching onwards (I’d say ‘raging’ but that’s too strong a word really) with plenty of “anonymous” users (and yes, me, myself) throwing in their tuppenceworth.
Most people, myself included, have little or no clue of the exact detail of the row which appears to have developed between the now-departed presenter(s) in question and the management of Dundalk FM, yet plenty of people seem well able to comment with the assumption of authoratative knowledge. That’s anonymity on the Internet for you, I guess.
Anyway, I had no show on Friday on account of: a) it being St. Patrick’s Day and b) there being a live match (Dundalk Vs Cobh Ramblers … we lost) on instead. Back to normal on Friday 24th. Hope to have more free pizza to give away to lucky listeners.
On Paddy’s day itself, me and the missus went to Carrick to see the parade but left before it started and went to Carlingford instead because she was too cold… Female logic escapes me sometimes.
