Hi there! First time here? Feel free to subscribe to my RSS feed. If you like what you read, you can vote for me on IrishBlogs.info. Thanks for visiting!

I’m sitting here in my underpants, admiring my award which was given to me (and every other presenter!) by Dundalk FM 100 at their awards night last night, and I’m listening to some god-awful music! Why? Well I’m compiling the top ten for this weeks show and its the “top ten actors-turned-singers”. The shortlist at the moment looks like this:

Kylie Minogue, Scott Bakula, Kate Winslet, Jamie Foxx, Lindsay Lohan, William Shatner, Leonard Nimoy, David Cassidy, Minnie Driver, Russell Crowe, Hilary Duff, Minnie Driver, David Hasselhoff, Natalie Imbruglia, David Soul, Patrick Swayze, John Travolta, Jack Black, Mr. T, Nicole Kidman, Ewan McGregor, John Belushi, Robert Downey Jr., Tony Danza, Tia Carrere, Marilyn Monroe, Megan Mullally (Karen from Will and Grace).

There’s a lot there - and a lot more inspiration on sites like this one and, to be fair - not ALL of it is god-awful… Megan Mullally’s version of “Danny Boy” is quite good in fairness (that girl can SERIOUSLY sing, - and she sounds nothing like her TV character, thank god!), as are Kate Winslet’s “What If?”, Patrick Swayze’s “She’s Like The Wind” (seriously!), Tia Carrere’s “Ballroom Blitz” - and yes, certain tracks by last week’s No. 1 (number 1 TV theme tune), David Hasselhoff! That Top Ten was compiled by myself and the final chart looked like this:

10. Friends (The Rembrants - I’ll Be There For You)
9. COPS (Inner Circle - Bad Boys)
8. Star Trek: The Next Generation
7. Scrubs (Lazlo Bane - Superman)
6. The A-Team
5. Knight Rider
4. Cheers
3. Mission Impossible (Lalo Schiffrin, comp.)
2. Hawaii Five-O
1. Baywatch (David Hasselhoff - I’ll Be Ready)

WHY, you may ask, did I put David Hasselhoff at No. 1? Simply because of the size of the audience Baywatch had - over 1 Billion people in over 140 countries watched him frolic up and down the sand every week with the big bosomed blondes and brunettes on the beach. And besides, “I’ll Be Ready” isn’t at all a bad song anyway! For more Hasselhoff-inspired (no, Hasselhoff-obsessed!) madness, head on over to The Hoff blog.

Anyway!… Once again, this week, we’ve got pizza from Apache Pizza on the Avenue Road to give away to the most deserving listeners - plus, this week, we’ll be trying to give away a DVD of Red Dwarf VI. I’m not sure how or why yet, but I’ll figure it out.

Finally… muchos congratulations to Neil Ross, who won the Alec Fennell Award for best contribution to the community through his work with Dundalk FM 100. Neil produces and presents numerous shows on the station including the weekly sports magazine show Sports Academy, Dundalk FC fans show The Lily Whites, and the Friday 80’s show - as well as presenting the sports news on Dundalk Daily. He’s also brought live sports to the listeners by providing live commentary on some of Dundalk FC’s away games, including a recent one at Tolka Park. He’s a much deserved winner! Well done, Neil!
