I’m being forced to do this. Sort of.
Ignore at will.
1. What did you do in 2006 that you’d never done before?
Er, a few things… they include doing the voiceover radio advertisement for my employer that was heard on radio stations nationwide, running a digital photo lab and going to Greece.
2. Did you keep your new years’ resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
I don’t make them.
3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
My friend Sorcha had a baby girl (Rhiannon) at the beginning of 2006, and the girlfriend of one of my co-workers gave birth on New Years’ Day just gone.
4. Did anyone close to you die?
Yes, my grandmother died at the end of November. I went out and got hammered drunk for my 30th birthday and had to drive to Limerick the next day for the funeral.
5. What countries did you visit?
Greece, Northern Ireland and Inis Mor. I know Inis Mor doesn’t count, but it should. Almost.
6. What would you like to have in 2007 that you lacked in 2006?
Ridiculously large amounts of disposable cash.

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Getting engaged.
9. What was your biggest failure?
Not getting through to the final round of the Q102 Search for a Star… I suppose. Or possibly not being promoted in work.

Very little apart from neck/back pain, exhaustion - oh, and bruising from my attempts to ice skate.
11. What was the best thing you bought?
An engagement ring.
12. Whose behaviour merited celebration?
Supporters of Dundalk FC. Well, .. most of them.
13. Whose behaviour made you appalled and depressed?

Loan repayments.
15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
Sorry - predictable I know, but… getting engaged.
16. What song will always remind you of 2006?
Well there’s “Shakira feat. Wyclef - Hips Don’t Lie”… that one was pretty inescapable in ‘06. But also Snow Patrol’s “Chasing Cars”, Bell X1’s “Rocky Took A Lover”, and - strangely - a few tunes by The Who (’cos I watched a lot of CSI in the past year, I guess…)
17. Compared to this time last year, are you: happier or sadder?
I’m considerably happier but there are a few broken things I still need to work on fixing.
