Okay as mentioned in a previous post, I installed Ubuntu Linux on my laptop, giving it 10GB, leaving 50GB for Windows XP. All seemed well until I tried booting into XP this evening and found that not only was NTLDR gone, but the whole 50GB partition (the C: drive) had become corrupted, meaning that Windows was essentially fucked. Ubuntu still happily booted and worked fine though, clearly oblivious to the mess it had made.
I’ve now reset it back to one single partition and am mid-way through re-installing Windows.
Just as well everything important was stored on an external hard drive. The waste of time re-installing all my apps is just going to be a pain in the arse though.
Likely won’t be updating the blog (much) over the weekend… although I WILL be keeping an eye on offensive/rude comments and deleting them. You know who you are…
If I’m going to play with Ubuntu again, it won’t be in a dual-boot situation - or, at least, if it is - it won’t be using GRUB and the two systems wont be sharing the same physical hard drive!

One Response to “Ubuntu killed my Windows?”
Update: I’ve installed Norton Ghost 12 and I’d strongly recommend it to anyone who wants to avoid the hassle of reformatting, reinstalling Windows, reinstalling service-packs, reinstalling software, setting Windows back up just the way you like it, etc. etc. etc.
