Hi there! First time here? Feel free to subscribe to my RSS feed. If you like what you read, you can vote for me on IrishBlogs.info. Thanks for visiting!

I find myself in the all too familiar territory of agreeing entirely with something Twenty Major has said… the Irish blogging scene does feel a little dead at the moment. It’s like we’re in the middle of a lull. A sort of blogging recession, if you will.

Mind you, it’s not like I’m doing much to combat that as my own blog has gone a bit quiet of late… I guess I’ve just not had much to say, really… must work on that. Especially if I’m going to be in with a shout at the 2009 Blog Awards (ha!), which are being held in Cork.

Here’s what Tommy Tiernan thinks of the Cork accent, by the way:

So… um… what’s happening with me ?…

Well, I scored a few goals tonight,- real ones,- playing football down in our local sports & leisure club, before coming home and being beaten 10 - 4 in FIFA ‘08 on the PS3 by my brother. He was Argentina, I was Liverpool (with newly added Robbie Keane :-) ).

Saw The Dark Knight on Saturday in the VIP cinema in “movies @ Swords” and there’s very little I can say about it that hasn’t already been said. It. Was. Awesome.

Not much else going on with me… how are you?

● Don’t forget… International Delete your Myspace Account Day is just over a week away!

● Well known and respected actor Heath Ledger - best known for his roles in ‘A Knights Tale’ and ‘Brokeback Mountain’ looked like having a very bright and promising future. He’ll soon be seen in the new Batman movie, “The Dark Knight”. Sadly, he was found dead today in Manhattan. Here are some reports from RTÉ, BBC and CNN. You can google the rest. It’s also on Boards.ie (here and here) and Karl Hungus has a brief report here.

● Seen the “Tom Cruse on Tom Cruise, Scientologist” video? Laughed? Then you’ll love the parody.

● The Wall Street Journal reports that Disney is to launch mobile phone service in Japan, specifically targeting women.

Via DownloadSquad:- Now you can get free CD & DVD burning software for your computer - support for BluRay and HD-DVD included!

● Gotta tune in to this - The Fanny Waters Show (via Damien) on Newstalk tomorrow morning. Hope someone records it! Best of luck, Fergal!

● Are Creme Eggs getting smaller or does Donncha just have huge hands?

● Vera Duckworth died a few days ago after 33 years on Coronation Street. She went peacefully in her sleep, of heart failure. She’s only a character in a TV show. She’s got over 600 friends on her new bebo page and nearly 400 members in her facebook group. Not bad, eh? (If you’re in the UK - or have a UK IP address - you can watch her best moments and her final moments here).

● Finally, … and JESUS!… I know we took the piss out of Lorcan Malone, but I didn’t know that THIS EXISTED.

Here’s the trailer:

I always loved Crunchies…

The teaser trailer for the new Star Trek movie is playing in US theatres - Karl Hungus has it here.

Mentioned him here myself… Now the Fanny Waters blog says that John Waters is stupid. No, that John Waters… Right!

New Dubai skyscraper to have rotating floors… oooh…

Time tell us why we flirt.

Microsoft Windows 7 (successor to Vista) may be released next year.

I couldn’t make this up… Monkey’s brain in American makes robot walk .. in Japan

Donncha wants to know the best way to back up many gigabytes of photos to DVD. Frankly, I’d just go with an external hard drive…

Finally, in the same vein as the greatest movies never made, here’s a short film which pits Batman against not just the Joker, but the Alien and Predator too. Very well made -and done, apparently, for less than $40K!

Much is known about the eleventh Star Trek movie, due to come out at the end of the year. Simon Pegg is Scotty, Chris Pine is Kirk, - oh and J.J. Abrams (of LOST fame) is signed up to direct. The story is about the origins of the Enterprise crew and how Kirk, Spock, Scotty, McCoy, Sulu, Uhura, etc. all got together originally.

Frankly, for now, I think I prefer this story: Kirk, unhappy at being usurped as the main man of Starfleet (by Picard) becomes a renegade/terrorist in an action that leads to a climactic show-down between the original Enterprise and the “next generation” Enterprise. It’s a brilliantly edited, very well put-together fan-fiction trailer.

Enjoy:-

Moving from sci-fi to superheros, how about the story of the avenging of the death of one of the greatest superheros of them all - Batman. It’s the return of the other half of the “dynamic duo”, Robin The Boy Wonder, along with an appearance from the Joker plus cameos from an aging Superman and a spookily authentic looking Wonder Woman - in “Grayson” - the movie the fans want to see made.

You can also see the official Web site here, and you can download a high resolution version of this trailer here.
